WA’s hard border will be replaced with a “controlled border” on November 14, reuniting the State with the rest of the country — including NSW and Victoria.
The WA Government met today, with the State’s Chief Health Officer Andy Robertson updating officials about the possibility of a travel bubble with safe States.
Mark Mcgowan will reveal the outcome of that meeting this afternoon, with a timeline for how and when the hard border will be relaxed expected to be handed down.
Travellers from every State and Territory will be permitted into WA, with only those arriving from Victoria and NSW required to self-quarantine at a “suitable premise” for a fortnight.
It’s understood arrivals from these low risk jurisdictions won’t need to be tested or self-quarantine, but there will be safety measures to reduce the risk of the virus getting into WA.
It’s expected WA’s border will remain closed to New South Wales and Victoria, which continue to record low numbers of locally acquired COVID-19 cases.
Interstate arrivals will be screened and have their temperature taken at Perth Airport as they arrive and must be prepared to submit to COVID-19 testing.

Born on 13 July 1967 Mark McGowan is an Australian politician, the 30th and current Premier of Western Australia.
Mark McGowan was born into a family of Irish descent in Newcastle, New South Wales and was educated at public schools in Coffs Harbour, before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1989 from the University of Queensland. He joined the Australian Labor Party in 1984.
Born in Newcastle, McGowan has educated in country New South Wales before attending the University of Queensland. He subsequently worked as a legal officer for the Royal Australian Navy, serving at naval base HMAS Stirling, south of Perth.
Remaining in Western Australia, McGowan served as a councilor at the City of Rockingham from 1994 until his election to the Legislative Assembly at the 1996 state election, representing the seat of Rockingham.
After the 2005 election, he was elevated to the ministry, although he had served as a parliamentary secretary since the 2001 election.
