Sharrieff played football for the University of Utah as a captain where he played for three seasons as a safety but unfortunately, he had a career-ending neck injury just three games into his senior season.  Along with that he was an honourable mention all-Western Athletic Conference safety in 1991 and 1992 and was also named the Sports Illustrated National Defensive Player of the Week in 1991. He ran track, competed in the 60-yard dash and long jump from 1990 to 1992. After departing from sports Sharrieff got into law and completed his law degree in 2001 after which he worked as an attorney for almost 12 years. While working as a lawyer he was a certified sports agent through the NFL Player Association from 1996 through 2002. He has also worked as a sideline reporter for Utah’s flagship radio station ESPN 700 from 2000 through 2011 and sideline analyst for local television stations KUTV and KJZZ in their University of Utah broadcasts for three seasons.

Despite all the things he has gotten into, he always wanted to be into football and that’s what he got into at the end as a coach at the University of Utah continuing his ninth year. ESPN.com has named him as one “10 coaches who adapt and thrive” in 2014, as he has helped coach five cornerbacks who went to play in the NFL later.
