Carrie Bickmore‘s Channel 10 colleagues have been left stunned by the exProject host‘s sudden split from partner Chris Walker. Bickmore, 42, announced the couple‘s breakup on Instagram on Tuesday, leaving fans bewildered as to what caused the breakup. Her former workmates at the TV network admitted they were just as surprised.

Close confidants at the network say they’ve been told the decision to end the relationship was entirely Carrie’s, sparking rampant speculation about her reasons. Chris Walker on the other hand was spotted looking stressed while out on a lunchtime run in Melbourne on Thursday. Chris was holding a phone in his hand and was looking stressed as he might be dealing with incoming messages on his phone.

‘It could be that since leaving The Project, she’s spent more time at home and realised it’s not the life she wants.

In April of last year, Carrie and Chris took their children Ollie, 15, Evie, seven, and Adelaide, four, on a threemonth sabbatical to the UK in what Carrie described as afamily adventure‘. In hindsight, however, it could have been a desperate attempt to save their relationship. On the show ‘The Project’ Carrie talking about her trip said;

‘Chris and I and the kids are heading off on a family adventure together.’

Experts often suggest that couples who are close to breaking up should take one last vacation together to try and revive the romance. Unfortunately, while some relationships improve in this environment, others may deteriorate further due to the obligatory nature of romanticism on the holiday.

The radio star also revealed that she had been motivated by The Project presenter Kate Langbroek, who had spent two years in Bologna, Italy, with her spouse and offspring. After spending a few months abroad, Carrie returned to The Project in July with a new English accent and a few jokes, but kept the details of her trip largely to herself. She simply said that she had had a “great time” and left it at that.

On Wednesday morning, Carrie announced the 11yearlong relationship between her and her partner had come to an end. In a post on Instagram, the couple stated they would focus on coparenting their three children.

Carrie and Greg Langue had a whirlwind romance, getting married in 2005 when she was just 25 years old. Tragically, Greg was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away in 2010 at the age of 35. In his memory, Carrie started the charity Bickmore‘s Beanies for Brain Cancer. Two years later, in 2012, Carrie met her future husband, producer for The Project, Pete Walker. They began dating, and eventually Walker became a stepdad to Oliver, Carrie‘s eldest child. Together they had two daughters, Evie and Adelaide, born in 2015 and 2018 respectively.
