Upon entering Tribal Council, the new Brawn tribe was taken aback to learn that Ben Bylett had chosen to go, and Australian Survivor presenter Jonathan LaPaglia informed them that no one would be returning home. Ben has finally disclosed the reason. Jonathan started

“I understand that everyone has come here today to send someone home, but due to a development this evening, that will not be possible. Ben from Brains has made the decision to exit the game, which may come as a bit of a shock,”

This implies that you won’t be casting your ballot tonight and that nobody will be returning home from this tribe.

Why did Ben leave Australian Survivor?

During an intense water challenge, survivor Ben suffered a torn calf muscle. Despite the severity of the injury, it received minimal attention on the show. Ben admitted that pushing through the pain was tough, but he remained determined to continue in the competition.

After transitioning to the Brains Beach, survivor Ben faced harsh sleeping conditions, enduring several nights in a puddle. This exposure led to a serious illness, further compromising his health. The physical toll became evident during a demanding Hoop Challenge, where he re-aggravated his calf injury and began experiencing breathing difficulties. He struggled to catch his breath for hours, signaling a deeper health issue.

Ben sent an emotional letter about the difficulties he had in the game on his Instagram to explain his sudden exit.

“Playing Survivor is bloody tough,” “I tore my calf muscle in that epic water challenge when Myles [Kuah] aced all the goals,”

he continued, adding that while it wasn’t highlighted much on the show, the injury was tough to push through.

“I couldn’t catch my breath for hours afterward, and I realised something was actually pretty wrong with me.”

Medical Intervention and Diagnosis

As Ben’s symptoms escalated, including irregular heart rates and severe respiratory issues, the production team intervened.

He was evacuated and later diagnosed with severe pneumonia. Reflecting on his ordeal, Ben revealed he lost 13 kilograms in just 24 days and unknowingly battled Ross River fever during his time on the show.

Gratitude and Unfinished Business

Despite the challenges, Ben expressed gratitude for his Survivor experience. He hinted at “unfinished business” with the game, indicating a desire to return and compete in the future.
