Jesus Camargo is a minor league pitcher who was first signed to the Chicago Cubs in the year 2014. Recently, he is on the news after he was arrested by police in Eagle County, Colorado.
The police found 21 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.2 pounds of oxycodone pills in his car. Jesus was charged with illegal distribution of methamphetamine and oxycodone, all class 1 drug felonies, as well as unlawful possession of each substance, both class 4 drug felonies, when he appeared in Eagle County Court on Thursday. He is being held on a $75,000 bond by Judge Rachel Olguin-Fresquez.
According to the arrest affidavit, Jesus Camargo-Corrales was stopped in a silver BMW on Interstate 70 near Vail on Wednesday morning after an Eagle County sheriff’s deputy spotted the vehicle speeding and drifting lanes. He told the police that there were no drugs because he followed the Cubs’ anti-doping policy and that he was going to Denver to teach a baseball clinic for children.
When he was interviewed by the police, he claimed that he was given $500 to deliver the duffel bag to Denver by a friend in Sinaloa, Mexico. He believed the bag contained shoes or clothes, but he also stated that he was aware there were drugs inside.
