Current Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen has announced his candidacy for Labor’s leadership.
He would be competing alongside frontbencher Anthony Albanese for office. The announcement comes shortly after Bill Shorten stated he would step down from the job.
Mr. Shorten gave the news in his concession speech after Saturday’s election. While everyone was expecting his long-time deputy, Tanya Plibersek to join the race, she said it “is not my time” to become a leader.
