When she was eight years old, she used to take inspirations from heart surgeon Dr. Victor Chang. During her high school, she changed her track to study music or musical theater after she found no interest in medicine and thought that she underperformed academically.
While giving an interview, Dr. Nikki Stamp revealed,
“My dad was trying to get me to have a ‘real’ degree first as a backup, and I was planning on becoming an accountant.
she added;
I knew it wasn’t for me and my dad said to me ‘If you could be anything at all in the world, regardless of marks or prerequisites, what would it be?’ and I immediately told him that I would be a doctor.”
Additionally, when asked what she likes most about being a surgeon. She replied,
“I think the technical challenge and skill really appeal to me and I enjoy that I can never stop learning.”
