Shortly after, Avery’s lawyer Kathleen Zellner announced the unexpected engagement between Lynn Hartman and Steven Avery. Later in Dr. Phil’s show, the former soon-to-be bride said,
“Within the first month, he was telling me that he knew he wanted me to be his wife.”
