Josh Perry, often known as “Pezza,” is a small-town butcher from Smithton, Tasmania, noted for his love of homegrown, grass-fed Tasmanian beef and locally sourced seafood. He manages Perry’s Quality Meats, a family business, with his wife, best friend Jen, and their two adult sons working with him.

Josh owns Perry’s Quality Meats, Tasmania’s “best paddock-to-plate butcher”. And he’s quite knowledgeable about local meats. Josh is a former livestock agent who raises his cattle for sale.
The butcher shop is a family affair, with Josh working alongside his wife of 20 years and best friend Jen. His two boys had previously worked for Perry’s Quality Meats.

When Josh isn’t at the butcher, he uses his meat to prepare delicious meals for his family. Every Sunday, MasterChef Josh Perry cooks for his wife, four children, and three little grandchildren.
Of course, his preferred cooking style is barbecue. Josh’s love of cooking began at a young age, and he learned to cook from his mother, Nan, and aunt. His ultimate goal is to establish a modest paddock-to-plate restaurant in Tasmania.

Despite being a home cook, Josh has had some of his cooking work published before appearing on MasterChef Australia 2024. In 2021, he announced on Instagram that he had been published in The Butcher’s Cookbook. He wrote:
“Pretty happy with the Butcher’s Cookbook that I got a couple of my own recipes in along with 50 other butchers around Australia,”
