While they were doing so good in the show, the uncalled tragedy befell them. On Monday, Sarah told  TV Week that they were halfway through building a room on the Brighton construction site when she was told her grandmother had died. Sarah said;
George received a phone call and passed the phone over to me with a look I’ll never forget.
The call was from Sarah’s mother. She broke down in tears after hearing the news of the death of her grandmother.

Sarah wasn’t herself but still, she decided to push through the pain and finish the room. She did not want to let go of her and her husband, George’s compromises in vain.

Sarah and George are from Western Sydney. They are a fun-loving and enthusiastic couple. They have been together for eight years and are married for three years. Being together for so long, their bond is strong and unbreakable.

Sarah is a high school teacher and she loves her job as a teacher. She said;
Don’t get me wrong, I love my job, but I am not the same person when I’m teaching. It’s just not the dream.

With George coming from the Greek and Italian heritage, a central part of life has always been family and tradition. He worked as an electrician for 13 years in Sydney. He may seem tough from outside but he is a kid at heart.

The Block’s Sarah and George Financial Background
Sarah is a teacher by profession whereas George is an Electrician. In order to appear in the series, The Block, George quit his job as an electrician.
Likewise, Sarah also had to take unpaid leave from the school in order to appear on the show. They were left with no income during production earlier this year. Â
They’ve recently spoken about the financial struggles they faced to survive on The Block after losing their jobs.
