A cochlear implant
Per Good Morning America, Abigail Heringer was born with congenital hearing loss. When she was 2 years old, she got a cochlear implant along with her older sister Rachel, who was born with congenital hearing loss.
According to the Salem Statesman Journal, Rachel made history as the youngest patient to undergo Oregon Health & Science University cochlear implantation surgery.
