Salvo Coppa is the University of Arizona Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. He is popular for being the husband of the head coach of the University of Arizona Wildcats women’s basketball, Adia Barnes. She is a former basketball player. She played with the Houston Comets, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, and Sacramento Monarchs in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for seven seasons.
Recently, her team, the Arizona Wildcats were defeated 54-53 by Stanford in the national championship game after Aari McDonald’s last-second 3-point attempt was missed. In an interview, when asked about why Arizona lost, the head coach, Adia Barnes said:
I think we definitely didn’t convert on the turnovers. I think we were just taking some quick shots. I think taking some forced shots. But those shots had been falling prior to this game.
Though the Arizona Wildcats lost, Adia is still proud of her team. She said:
This team is so special. I am so proud. We fought. We weren’t the best team in the tournament. No one thought we’d be here. We believed in each other. We didn’t play a great game, but we battled. We played our hearts out. We came within one possession.
