The tremendous rivalry between Danny Green and Anthony Mundine has been the most talked topic in the town as the two made an appearance in the TV show “I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” Danny and Anthony’s appearance in the same show have created interest among their fans.
When Danny appeared as a newcomer chosen to participate in a boxing-themed food challenge on the show, he received a cold welcome from Anthony Mundine. After a reunion with Anthony, Danny jokingly said,
‘Fought him twice, met him in a few press conferences…’
On the Sunday’s episode, the two almost started fighting, throwing barbs regarding who won their last title fight that happened a year ago in Adelaide. Danny received the top title after the completion of the game where they were forced to eat raw sausages, offal jelly with fish eyes, squid ink pasta, fish gut shake and steak and liver pie.

Fiona asked Danny if he was sworn enemies with Anthony to which he replied,
‘What you see is what you get.’ He continued, ‘I’ve never spent more than two minutes talking to him.’
In addition to Danny’s statement, Anthony said,
“I got no problem with Danny being here. It’s not a problem. I can mingle with anybody’s company; you know what I mean? But I’m not gonna be his friend.”
Danny also admitted that he had never met Anthony outside of a boxing ring or a press conference.

Danny Green’s career: From amateur to professional
The three-time champion started his journey of becoming a professional boxer at the age of 20. In his teenage, he tried martial arts and kickboxing while in 1988, he received a scholarship in Australian Institute of Sport. The same year, he won a bronze medal at the Liverpool International Boxing Tournament.
During his early career, in 2001, he started his training at the Bankstown Police and Community Youth Club. At the age of 28, when he finally turned into a professional player, he had 33 wins from 38 fights. To achieve all of these he took eleven and a half years and among them, he fought five times outside Australia.
He has employed the training services of Cuban-born Ismael Salas (from mid-2005), Angelo Hyder (from mid-2009) and former world champion Jeff Fenech. Just a month away from a planned WBA light-heavyweight titled ‘Defence against Argentina’s Hugo Garay,’ he made an announcement. During a press conference in Perth on 25 March 2008, he announced his retirement from boxing.
“I am at the top of my game and the peak of my career.” While he announced his retirement, he said, “I leave with my dignity and health intact.”
On Danny announcement, his rival Anthony reacted,
“It’s a smart move on his behalf … he was a good fighter and a busy fighter, but he wasn’t a great fighter,”
He added,
“For me, he is running from the inevitable, and it is good that he decided to get out now because he was going to get a whipping again.”
On 26 April 2009, he ended his retirement after meeting South African Anthony van Niekerk in Perth for a light-heavyweight bout, whom he dropped in the second round.
