When she was four years old, Hornstra moved to Australia with her Dutch parents. In the year 1994, she graduated with a degree in Performing Arts from NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art).
She kicked off her career in the year 1993 by appearing in a short film titled ‘The Door’. Moreover, she performed in the medical drama series including ‘Big Sky,’ ‘Wildside,’ ‘Head Start,’ ‘Farscape,’ and ‘Water Rats’.
