I don’t know what this site is all about but I would say that during the Watergate Hearings I thought him quite arrogant and over-assuming. Some of his logic was full of weak links. Bug watching him moving from MSNBC to CNN I saw a maturing and beautiful aging in his logic, manner and generosity with adjectives. This left me open to his flawless logic. I am a Registered Republican and was an avid Conservative. But my conservatism is not a class thing or a wealth thing. If is the guidance by the best and not the worst of the Judeo-Christian tradition of logic, philosophical contemplation, empiricism/scientific reasoning, AND ABOVE ALL EMULATION OF JESUS ON COMPASSION FOR THD LEADT ENDOWED OF US. This— clearly— is Mr. Epstein standard for a generous sense of justice and generosity. Yes, some people STILL think that way and they can be spotted by their refusal to speak as if an executioner. Yet, Mr Epstein has never been a shrinking violet, but as if pickled in fine grapes that slowly become the best of wine, Mr Epstein’s analysis has been little more than impeccable with words worthy of saving as history to give insight to posterity. He doesn’t seem like a human hand-grenade attention seeking but as a serious CONSTRUCTIVE analyst who in no way exhibits that attention seeking Millennials’ trait that just looks immature and freaky. So listening to him is easy, attention is fixed, yet he does nothing that’s attentions seeking for many guests now. To sum, he tries to do with words in politics what we try to do with scalpels and clamps in surgery: take our the cancerous tumor as delicately with minimal damage to get to it as so few TV commentators on TV do these days. A private man who clearly is constantly analytically thinking so is ready to give CONSTRUCTIVE analysis that leads to public understanding. This can be said about few political figures of his generation as they fade into the shadows to spend their ill gotten gains. Mr Epstein, by contrast, is ever ready to give analysis and therefore devoted to ever update his analysis based on the fact and his matured judgement. As one who despised him decades ago, I feel compelled to trumpet thd beauty of his evolution, to my mind, from ugly duckling to a beautiful intellectual/legalistic swan. I take on the humbling task of exposing my change of heart only to show how we must always revisit even our most in-depth and intense opinions as the worst of us may grow input esteem because either they, us, or both unnoticeably shifted to exactly the opposite view. That does not mark us as unreliable jerks but rather as maturing in our maturing vies of maturing fellow humans. Irreversibility is the mark of the doomed and people of the high caliber of Julian Epstein has saved me from doom many times more than once. It would be well for us all to gather seeking consensus over a good bottle of wine, a seasonal or cup of cocoa, or any imbibing that does not impede the clarity of our thoughts and words. But a loosened tongue and unguarded heart, speaking openly and enthusiastically while listening and thinking only bespeaks the glory of our several billion brain cells that are ever active, shaping our thoughts and feelings into the wonderful and constructive wonder we call disputing conversation. As for me, I only argue endlessly with people I deeply respect and often see are far better endowed with capacities than me. So, the time I spend listening feeds me generously my mind at their expense.
