The Australian Idol judges were absolutely blown away on Wednesday night‘s episode, as one–year–old Riley, son of the legendary Meghan Trainor, auditioned for the show!
Although he‘s only 18 months old, Riley has become an absolute superstar, thanks to the All About That Bass singer sharing his most adorable moments with her legions of 16 million TikTok followers. His fame has reached near–mythic proportions!
Riley Sabara sporting a shirt that boldly proclaimed him to be the next Australian Idol – was buoyed along by the jubilant encouragement of his father Daryl Sabara. As Riley marched closer to the stage, Daryl swept him off his feet and carried him in triumph to the marker, eliciting a round of delighted laughter from the judges. As Riley came into view, toddling along, supported by his dad, Judge Harry Connick Jr was absolutely awestruck, he says;
“Oh I’m going to cry, I can’t handle it, I cannot,”
Likewise, judge Kyle Sandilands says;
“Well, well, what have we got here,” “So cute!”
And with a high-pitched child’s voice, Daryl said,
“Hi I’m Riley and I’m going to sing the ABCs”.
An excited Harry said,
“Wait, if he’s going to sing, I want to play with him”, leaping off his chair to make his way towards the piano – waving to the toddler on his way.
Daryl belted out a stunning rendition of Twinkle Twinkle to the delight of the judges, culminating in a standing ovation and a shower of golden confetti. The crowd erupted with joy as Riley was presented with a golden ticket.
