According to the medical examiner, Tristyn Bailey was stabbed 114 times. During a press conference in the St. Johns County courtroom, R.J. Larizza, the 7th Circuit state attorney, described Aiden Fucci’s actions as deliberate. Larriza said:
At least 49 of those stab wounds were to the hands, arms and the head. They were defensive in nature.
He added:
The bottom line is that premeditation could be inferred certainly from just the sheer number of stab wounds that Tristyn Bailey had to suffer. Every time that arm went back, and every time that arm went down, that was premeditation.
Larriza also said that Aiden told some of his friends that he was going to kill someone by taking them in the woods and stabbing them, which are certainly the facts of this case. The state attorney said he found it “disturbing and concerning” that the statements were not taken seriously by those who heard them.
