In a nation with a large population that participates in gambling, the Australian poker landscape has been full of talented players. While most poker players have kept it national, some have put Australia on the international poker map. While there is always discussion on who to include when making these lists, here is the Australian Hall of Fame regarding poker playing.

1. Joe Hachem

Hailing from Lebanon, Joe Hachem moved to Melbourne with his family at age six. He began to play poker in both land-based and online casinos. While other amateur poker players might feel the need to use casino bonuses to get more out of the game, Joe Hachem is fine on his own.

The former chiropractor surprised other poker players internationally when he became the first Australian player to win the World Series of Poker main event. He could go home with 11.7 million Australian dollars. Apparently, this wasn’t enough for the Lebanese-Australian player, as he won his first World Poker Tour title the following year. While he doesn’t play professionally anymore, he remains one of Australian history’s most legendary players.

2. Jeff Lisandro

As a former real-estate investor, Jeff Lisandro is one of the most famous Australian poker players ever. Lisandro’s career goes back to 1997 when he played in the 3,000-dollar hold’em event with Phil Hellmuth Jr. Since then, he has obtained several WSOP bracelets, three in a year, which only six players can boast of. The same year he won the bracelets, he was named the World Series of Poker Player of the Year in 2009. He is still a regular poker player, participating in the World Series of Poker.

3. Kahle Burns

Having played for over a decade, the 34-year-old hailing from Geelong has managed to reach some of the top poker tournaments and the top of the rankings. He has over 10 million dollars in earnings from live games and is behind Joe Hachem’s all-time earnings. Having begun his career online on well-known poker sites, he quickly reached the top, which still seems to continue. Just last year, he made his biggest ever earning in Cyprus with a prize of 1.7 million dollars.

4. Jackqueline Glazier

Famous for participating in the reality show ‘Survivor’, Jackie Glazier was first known for her career as a professional poker player. Having played in the World Series of Poker, Glazier is one of the industry’s most renowned and respected female poker players. Destroying the myth that men only belong in the industry, she has played high-stakes tournament poker just like her male colleagues. She has managed to bank hundreds of thousands of dollars at several poker tournaments thanks to her wit and skills.

5. Jonathan Karamilikis

As many other poker players are known for playing at land-based casinos, Karamilikis is undoubtedly one of the best online poker professionals. Karamilikis has won more than 100 wins at real money poker events and has poker earnings of more than 3.9 million Australian dollars. While he is among the younger poker players on the list, he still deserves a place in the Hall of Fame.
