A high-ranking member of the Calabrian mafia was gunned down outside his Melbourne house in a suspected gangland hit, prompting police to prepare for possible retribution assaults. The man who was fatally shot this morning has been identified as John Peter Latorre. Who Is John Latorre?
A man suspected of having ties to Melbourne’s mafia was shot dead in an ambush in his driveway on his way to work, prompting authorities to be on high alert for revenge attacks. The man, identified by other news sources was John Peter Latorre.
He was discovered shortly after 4.30 a.m. on Tuesday outside a residence in Buchanan Place, Greenvale, around 20 kilometers north of Melbourne. Mr. Latorre, a fruit and vegetable wholesaler, is said to have connections to Melbourne’s Italian mafia.
Two female family members who were at home at the time were not physically hurt in the incident.
Paramedics attempted to revive Latorre, but he died on the site. A woman was later transported from her residence in an ambulance and treated for shock. At this moment, it is unclear how many criminals were involved in the crime or how they fled the region.

John Latorre Cause Of Death
Detective Senior Sergeant Danny Travaglini stated that the 64-year-old victim was walking out of his garage to his driveway to go to work when he was shot several times in the upper torso. “As he exited his premises, he was approached by an unknown person, or persons, where he was shot,” Sgt Travaglini told reporters Tuesday.
Paramedics attempted to revive Mr Latorre, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. At least two of his family members were home at the time of the crime, with one of them discovering the victim. Detectives met with Mr Latorre’s family, who stated they were “quite distraught” and unable to provide much information. No arrests have been made at this time.
