One of Australia’s most popular Indigenous television broadcasters has spoken out about racial prejudice in her profession, claiming she was racially discriminated against by police in the Northern Territory just two weeks ago.

Karla Grant, the long-running SBS host of Living Black, spoke about the event on Friday morning at the Women In Media national conference on the Gold Coast, where she was a guest speaker.

The Adelaide-born media star also claimed that her career was blocked early on, and she had to wait several years following a negative experience to secure a position in the media.
