Sasha Johnson is a British Black Lives Matter activist. She is a member of the Taking the Initiative Party’s leadership committee and has been a leading figure in the UK’s Black Lives Matter campaign.
On May 23, 2021, Sunday, her political party said that Sasha Johnson is in critical condition after being shot in the head in London. On their Instagram post, TTIP said:
It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Sasha Johnson has been brutally attacked and sustained a gunshot wound to her head. She is currently in intensive care and in a critical condition. The attack happened in the early hours of this morning, following numerous death threats as a result of her activism.
According to a Met police statement, the incident happened near a residence where a party was being held, and that a large number of individuals were there. Detective Chief Inspector Jim Tele said:
A dedicated team of detectives is working tirelessly to identify the person or persons responsible for this shooting.
