Stephanie Denaro has earned the nickname for herself, Bakery Karen after she was seen calling a New York bakery employee a racial slur.
On March 23, 2021, she argued with an employee named Victor when he refused to serve her because Denaro was not wearing a mask. The incident occurred in the Lower East Side’s Davidovich Bakery. After the bakery worker requested her to leave, she called the worker a “b**** a** n****” in a viral video recorded by a bystander.
When Stephanie was interviewed, she said that she didn’t say any of those words to him. She said:
I didn’t call him the N-word. I called him a term to describe his behavior.
She added:
Listen, there are different ways to spell things. I called him a specific word.
The bakery employee, Victor, 30, was taken aback by Denaro’s argument that she never used a racial slur against him. On Wednesday he told The Post:
Honestly, I really don’t know where that response comes from. I think that over a million people have seen the video and as it states in the video, she actually said those words …
He added:
I feel like it’s an insult to everybody.
