Australian Coast boxer Troy Waters, age 53, fought till the end with leukemia. It’s sad news for all of his fans and followers as he passed away after a long battle.
Waters was a light middleweight boxer who was the member of Australian National Boxing Hall of Fame. He was one of the Australian boxing stars of the 1980s and early 1990s.
It all happened in the year 2014 when the boxer, Troy Waters, suffered from a rare blood cancer called ‘acute myeloid leukemia.’ In the December of the same year, had a bone-marrow transplant from his brother Dean.
A close friend and a former boxer, Jamie Pittman said,
“He’d been battling hard for four years, it’s just an awful disease. There were a few stages where we thought he’d get on top of it, but unfortunately, it was just too much for him,”
Jamie Pittman added;
“He had such a big impact to all the young boxers growing up on the Central Coast. We were talking about it his morning, how devastating it is to have lost our biggest hero.”

Before a death occurs, most of the people dream of living a life with husband/wife until the last. But to the boxer Troy Waters; he lived a happy married life with his wife Michelle Waters. However, he couldn’t remain with her until the end.
After staying in the hospital for an extended period, Waters appeared to be recovering yet it came back. Describing how he felt due to the diagnosis, Waters said,
“I was at work and bruises came up on my legs. I felt really lethargic,’’ “After five weeks I knew something was wrong. The doctor told me it could be cancer.”

“I thought ‘no.’ I’ve been very healthy. I don’t drink or smoke. I run and work out and eat very healthy food. I see people down at the pub who smoke and drink, and nothing happens to them.’’
Although the news of the diagnosis coming back discovered, he would fight it for his family saying,
“It floored me when I discovered it came back. I have to fight it. I can’t give up, and I am going to fight it for me, my wife Michelle and children Nate, 14, and Shontae, 11.”
Waters got to live with his wife and children even if it’s for a short time. His son, Nate, is a representative player at the Central Coast Mariners Academy.
