Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen is an infamous Australian convict. He is a member of Bali Nine. In 2005, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen got a life sentence for smuggling heroin in Indonesia.
He got busted in Melasti Hotel of Kuta alongside other drug mules. They had the amount of 300 grams of heroin when they got caught.
One of the drug mules named Sukumaran was gun-fired to death in 2015. Tan Duc is one of Bali Nine. They are the drug lords related to 2005 scandal of Bali Heroin smuggling act.
However, recently in May 2018, he died in a hospital. Siloam hospital in Jakarta revealed that the cause of death was stomach cancer. He is the third one to pass away amongst the Bali Nine convicts.
Tan Duc spent almost 13 years in the Indonesian prison ere his death. His experience in the jail was painstaking & he admitted to regretting his actions as well. In an interview in 2015, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen said-
“I live with that regret every single morning when I wake and every night in my noisy bare jail cell as I try to sleep. That’s the memory that has stayed in my mind. That time when my mother, aunty, and sister came that first time to visit me in prison.My mother trying to just touch my face between the bars. The pain in her eyes and face. (It) was the most heartbreaking experience ever.”

During the late August of 2015, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen did an engagement with Lyudmyla Karpova. Tan Duc girlfriend is 28 years of age as of now. She is an ambulance volunteer with Red Cross in Italy. Karpova has a degree in linguistic mediation. On their initial correspondence, she thought Tan Duc was a decent guy with funny & smart attributes. She visited him four times a week in jail.
One fateful day, Tan proposed Lyudmyla to marry him. And the rest is history. They got engaged behind bars. They had even announced their marriage date to be December 12. In an interview Karpova said–
“Sometimes when I start thinking about our future I am sad and starting to ask myself: would I be able to bear all this? Am I strong enough? None of my family or friends have met Tan yet. Of course, they are all scared of me and my future. I am an only child also so I risk to not give any grandchild to my parents. Sure it would be easier to run away and find a normal, free guy but I can’t. He is my soulmate.”

Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen was an Australian citizen of Vietnamese ethnic origin. 30 October 1983 was Tan Duc D.O.B October 30, 1983, & 9th May 2018 is his death date. On September 6, 2006, he received the death penalty. However, he died out of stomach cancer this year.
He was also dubbed as the forgotten Bali Nine prisoner who found love in prison. Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen supposed wife Lyudmyla Karpova hasn’t commented yet about his demise. There are no profound insights as to who his biological parents were & such.
